I'm sorry -- I'm working on a post about the mental gymnastics we go through when we declutter, and I had planned to finish and post it today. Instead, in the hours I have been home and had free time, I have been ruthlessly decluttering our books -- the hardest category for me to release. I have to strike while I'm in the right frame of mind with books, so I'm pressing on instead of writing. (Just now I'm rewarding my progress so far with a popcorn and coke snack break, but I'm about to get back to it for the next little while until I have to leave for a meeting.
What are you up to today?
What are you up to today?
I am up to back to school. No decluttering today, but Wed. is my goal day to start back up. I did do two to three shelves of our cupboard the other day as a sort of fulfillment of the drawer assignment. One of the kids even noticed and said, hey the cupboard looks good, mom. Ahhh...somebody noticed:)
ReplyDeleteIt seems like I am decluttering kids, as two have left to go back to school since Sat. Bittersweet....
I did do my walking today, which is a goal right up there with getting better organized and making new Bible reading habits, So, I'm not beating myself up about not decluttering today. Too many other deadlines today.
Goal for Wed. Declutter in attic for at least 30 minutes. Also choose an are in our living area to attack. Go us!
I did the stove top yesterday! Yay! :)
ReplyDeleteI have such a hard time with books too. :( I even have multiple copies of some of them because I would find beautiful copies at yard sales to either give away or they are hardcovers to replace my paperback copy or some such thing. I get so sad when I find a used book that has obviously never been read! Anyway, I need to go through books too and post a pile for sale before we move.
Go you, mamalady! You have plenty on your plate and get all the free passes you need as far as I'm concerned. Two or three shelves totally count. I often only do one shelf before I leave to go somewhere or something. Even that much spurs me on to do more later when I'm able.
ReplyDeleteYay, Church Mouse -- I always feel particularly homemaker-ish when I really clean the stove top. I know a great housekeeper who cleans hers completely after every dinner, but I'm nowhere near there!
ReplyDeleteI'm really patting myself on the back for my work in our project room today. I pushed myself to let go of 4 boxes of books -- a very big deal for me.
It's funny that when I read this, I am sitting at my desk with some fresh popcorn and seltzer. I'm also in the process of decluttering my rows of bookshelves. Some books are just so hard to part with. However, I just learned that East Berlin Commnunity Center is getting ready to have a book sale and they are looking for book donations. For me, it does make it easier.
ReplyDeleteBible studies and a funeral today, which combined took all day and just got home. The house may be a wreck, but I don't mind right now, life is full and blessed. :)
