It's Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real -- Holiday Prep Addition!

Pretty

Our daughter, Alyssa, arranged this homey vignette.

Happy

These wooden nesting santas have been with us since Alyssa was a little girl. They are part of the "touchable" decor. It makes me happy to see them lined up on the windowsill, especially as the sun rises behind them.

Funny

It's Funny how some of the most delicious things are some of the ugliest, too. This is date pecan filling for the date pinwheel cookies I make each year for the holidays.

Real

On pinterest I see photos of gorgeous crafting and studio spaces -- really impressive and inspiring. We are fortunate to have a "project room" off our kitchen. It functions as an office, homeschool storage, playroom (now for visitors), and general workspace. For a couple of weeks this year, gift-wrapping activities take precedence and messedence. Neither impressive nor inspiring, but oh-so real.

What's happening at your house this week? Decorating? Cooking? Wrapping and Mess-making?

  1. Lovely little vignettes! I've often wondered the same thing about how some foods like so unappetizing until the entire ordeal is finished, turning our delicious of course!

  3. I definitely think your work space is very impressive!!! Large, well lit, organized ... love it!

Speaking of work spaces, a funny anecdote- Someone online told me the other day they could tell I had a beautiful studio ... they were shocked to find out I work from my coffee table, haha!

Btw, I didn't know you were on Pinterest! Just followed you. :)

  4. Wish I had a project room like that. It would be grand to have a space like that.

  5. LOVE your nesting Santas! My workspace is a messy oversized desk in the basement. I am just thankful that I can leave my sewing machine set up all of the time. I get so much more done that way.

  6. I only have a project corner, but it's better than nothing!
Your nesting Santas are cute, and I like Alyssa's taste in decorating in the first photo.

  7. It is absolutely true that any space where we can leave a project-in-progress out is a great blessing. I love our room -- sixties-style dropped ceiling and all. :)
